November 20, 2008 - Abbott, the leading brand in pediatric nutrition proudly introduced its new Gain® Plus and Gain® Kid Eye Q™ with the new Advance Shield formulation.
The Gain® Plus and Gain® Kid Eye Q™ was developed with one key benefit in mind - to enhance a child's learning performance. Now it is further fortified with the new Advance Shield system, which is a combination of three key nutrients i.e. nucleotides, probiotics and prebiotics, to help build a stronger health foundation for the body. Nucleotides or better known as building blocks of DNA, help to promote optimal immune function and maintain a healthy digestive system in children. Probiotics are healthy bacteria which help to sustain a healthier gut, thus providing children with better body protection. Prebiotics which are food for the friendly bacteria to thrive, enhance calcium absorption.
The launch event saw an innovative and refreshing way to introduce the brand through a creative drama, entiltled "The Adventure of the Smart Eye Q Bear" played out by a group of young, talented teenagers. The story engaged the audience and took them through the Eye Q Bear adventure with his friend, Little Red Riding Hood. The product story was creatively integrated into the storyline. As a result of good nutrition that helps to enhance the hero's IQ level through a stronger health foundation, the Eye Q Bear and Little Red Riding Hood prevailed over all challenges that come their way.
"Good nutrients hold the key to a child's learning performance", said Abbott Laboratories Malaysia's General Manager, Mr Christopher Kirkham in his opening speech. He added, "The new formulation marks a brighter learning future for children and it starts with a strong health foundation.
Gain® Plus is made for kids aged 1 to 3 years old and Gain® Kid Eye Q™ is for those 3 years old and above. All pediatric nutrition products sold in Malaysia by Abbott Laboratories are certified Halal by the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA). Ministry of Health, Malaysia has also acknowledged the safety and the source of Abbott Nutrition products marketed in Malaysia during the recent Melamine Contamination.
