Having a child is one of life's greatest miracles. So, when you're expecting, it's natural to feel concerned over what you will experience. You can reduce your anxiety by learning how you can track the changes that will occur, keep baby and you developing safely and normally, and recognize problems that may require special attention.

This series covers the essentials for having a healthy pregnancy, which is the start towards giving birth to a healthy, normal baby. Follow the guidelines and feel the difference. Be sure to inform your doctor and nurse of your progress and don't hesitate to ask if you need any additional information or advice.
 
10 tips for enjoying a healthy pregnancy
 
Follow these simple steps to care for yourself physically and emotionally:
 
  1. See your doctor for regular antenatal check-ups.
  2. Eat healthily.
  3. Exercise regularly.
  4. Avoid taking over-the-counter drugs (unless approved by your doctor) and street drugs.
  5. Stop smoking.
  6. Avoid alcohol.
  7. Wash your hands thoroughly after touching your pet animals (especially cats) and avoid contact with their faeces.
  8. Wear comfortable clothing and foot wear.
  9. Learn to de-stress and relax.
  10. Get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep a day.
