Starting Young in Mental Development

The early years of your child’s life are the best time for learning and discovery. As a parent, your presence and assistance is extremely valuable in nurturing your child’s mental development.

Your 1 ½ – 2 year old child can point to objects according to names, will try to find hidden objects and is able to say about 50 words clearly. You can begin to teach reading, writing, counting and communicating with other people.

Your 2–3 years child can say his / her name, will begin to ask simple questions and is able to speak in sentences of 3–4 words. This would be the time to prepare your child for pre–school by increasing the level of reading, writing, mathematic skills as well as encouraging creativity.

Your 3–4 years child now has a longer attention span, is able to carry out instructions, speak clearly and ask deeper questions. Continue developing cognitive skills and allow your child to express freely without interrupting or instructing him / her.

Isn’t your child’s growth an exciting journey? The best part is, your involvement as parents contributes a lot in shaping his / her thoughts, perceptions and ways.

Why not equip yourself with knowledge of your child’s abilities, your role and types of nutrients needed? You can download our comprehensive "A Practical Guide to Nurture Early Mental Development of Children" booklet for more information to enrich your child’s mental development experience!
